I'm delighted to be a subscriber to the SFCV e-mail newsletter. I've been a faithful SFCV reader since SFCV started. We are so fortunate to have such documentation of Bay Area musical events, since most of the standard media won't even cover the musical information most of us want to know. — Helene Whitson
Second Place?
I read with interest Mr. Keolker's Aug. 12 review of Festival Opera's Don Giovanni. I was unfortunately not in town to see the production, so I cannot contribute in any way to a discussion of Festival Opera's execution of the piece; however, I do take exception to Leporello being classed as a "secondary" character. As far as I'm aware, he has more to sing, and is on stage longer, than any other performer in the opera.
