Conservatory Performances for 2006-2007

By Janos Gereben

San Francisco Conservatory of Music performances in the new building will feature a series of master classes with such prominent artists as pianist Stephen Hough (Oct. 11), violinist Midori (Oct. 26), and clarinetist Karl Leister (April 16). The BluePrint New Music Project, now in its fifth year, starts on Oct. 14. The Conservatory Orchestra will perform in the new, large Concert Hall. Student concerts — upward of 300 during the year — are not yet announced.

The Conservatory Concert Hall has 450 seats

Events listed below are free, except those marked with an asterisk, which cost $10 for students and $15 for the general public. Unless otherwise marked, concerts take place in the Conservatory building at 50 Oak Street in San Francisco. Prices in outside venues will be slightly higher — for example, $15-$20 for the Cowell Theater opera performances — but the cost of music at the Conservatory is still a fraction of the prices for other organizations' tickets.
