Jasmine Elist earned a B.A. in English/Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. She published a Fisher-Price baby book titled Rainforest Choo-Choo, and is currently working on completing her first novel, a work of fiction intended for a new audience: adults.

At the young age of 16, saxophonist and San Francisco native Rent Romus had already experienced his first taste of producing and putting on shows for fellow artists and musicians. It was this innate passion as well as a love for underground music that inspired Romus to create, 36 years later, the Outsound New Music Summit, a Bay Area-based, artist-organized festival.
For many of us, classical music means the deep, melodious sounds created by the strings of a violin or the delicate, dulcet sound of light, nimble fingers swiftly climbing up and down the keys of a piano. These are exactly the conventional notions that the Los Angeles Electric 8 has passionately defied since 2007. This octet consists of classically trained guitarists who perform on electric instruments usually associated with rock.
