Charlene Brendler

Charlene enjoys teaching motivated students of all ages & abilities. Although specializing in early keyboards, she has kept an active private piano studio in the Bay Area & she has developed an Music History course that is integrated into the Berkeley Crowden School curriculum.

As a performer, numerous appearances have been made on both harpsichord & fortepiano, as soloist, chamber musician, & lieder collaborator. She is the founder & director of the Streicher Trio, a Bay Area ensemble that has won awards, performed in European Festivals, & made three CD recordings: The Mozart Trios, Trios of C. Schumann & L. Farrenc, & a compilation of 17th/18th century Italian music from the San Francisco Frank de Bellis Collection.

Charlene's background includes modern piano literature, orchestral literature played as a flautist, & the large repertoire for early keyboards from the Renaissance through the early Romantic eras. This is unique for a teacher & provides a rich learning experience.
