Berkeley Symphony Música de Amor

As the first commission of her tenure, Berkeley Symphony Music Director, Joana Carneiro, has chosen 36-year-old Mexican composer Enrico Chapela. Peter Lieberson's song cycle, Neruda Songs, written for his late wife Larraine Hunt Lieberson based on selected love sonnets by Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, is one of the most beautiful and profound song cycles of our century. Resident artist Rachel Calloway concludes with de Falla's Love, Magician, a work in the style of Spanish gypsies which includes the exciting "Ritual Fire Dance."
