Appearances by the Ailey company are always celebrations of dance at its finest, but this season, there's truly something special in the air. First, Alvin Ailey's landmark Revelations enjoys its 50th-anniversary performances, confirming its position as a defining masterwork of our time. And second, we bid a fond farewell to artistic director Judith Jamison, Ailey's hand-picked successor, who this season ends her tenure of leadership after more than 20 inspired years. Programs feature Ailey classics, favorites brought to the company or revived by Jamison, and works by today's most exciting new choreographers.
