Chamber Music.
Directed by esteemed violinist Gidon Kremer, this Grammy Award-winning chamber orchestra, one of Europe's finest, plays a wide range of music with verve and wit. Members of the ensemble possess diverse interpretive gifts, but somehow—miraculously—when they join forces, they become one resonant instrument in Kremer's hands. In Berkeley, Kremerata Baltica combines the old and the new, performing Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 131 (arranged for string orchestra), and an ambitious selection of modern works.
Program: Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp Minor, Op. 131 · plus works by composers Pärt, Šerkšnytė, Nyman, Auerbach, and Pelecis.
