The Grace Note Chamber Players present a program of chamber music by Frank Bridge (1879-1941), the unjustly-neglected English composer and violist, known primarily as the early mentor of Benjamin Britten. The program includes works which showcase the composer's significant stylistic evolution and response to musical currents of the early 20th century. Featured are the lush, expansive Piano Quintet in D minor (1904-12) and the angular, acerbic String Quartet No.4 (1937), written a few years before Bridge's death, on the eve of war. Two performances!
