The New Century Chamber Orchestra honors community and tradition with a program of works by Dvorak, Britten, and Bartok, all strongly identified with the music of their native lands. We welcome rising young Bay Area stars Brian Thorsett and Kevin Rivard for the darkly poetic Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. The evening opens with Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade, a favorite of audiences and musicians alike.

More About This Event
Sometimes it’s hard to remember, but the larger part of classical music as we now know it was written for use and even entertainment, not for musing on the abstract and infinite. With its upcoming concert, “Serenades and Dances,” New Century Chamber Orchestra reminds us of that fact with a tour through some celebrated pieces that are easy to get, totally delightful, and not tremendously intellectual.
