Such was Haydn’s fame and influence as a composer for string quartet that at least 16 sets of quartets were dedicated to him during his lifetime. Perhaps the most famous were the six written by his younger friend Mozart. The New Esterházy Quartet play the second of Mozart's "Haydn" Quartets, plus a quartet dedicated to Haydn by Adabart Gyrowetz, and a quartet by Haydn himself.
