Pianist Daniel Glover celebrates the 100th Birthday of Samuel Barber and 200th Birthday of Frederic Chopin with an innovative program that alternates works in similar genres by the two great composers. These include Nocturnes, Ballades, as well as works inspired by nationalism, such as Barber's Excursions and Chopin's Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise. Rounding out the program will be one of the highlights of 20th Century American piano music, Barber's Sonata in E-flat minor, Opus 26. http://www.danielgloverpianist.com/

More About This Event
If you want to jazz up a birthday party or anniversary, do something unexpected or plan a surprise. Pianist Daniel Glover is doing something like that with the otherwise dull-as-dishwater Frédéric Chopin commemorations this year, by pairing Chopin with Samuel Barber, another anniversary boy. His recital for San Francisco’s Old First Concerts promises to reveal some interesting connections.
