John Boyajy won a lot of new friends at Old First Concerts with his stunning performances of the “Raindrop” Prélude and Fantaisie-Impromptu at the Chopin Gala. Now, at his Old First Concerts full-length solo debut, John will present Schumann’s magnificent Humoreske, and his own transcription of Bach'a Chaconne, based on previous versions by Ferruccio Busoni and Alexander Siloti. Writing at classicalsonoma.org, Terry McNeill characterized John’s transcription as “an odyssey of rich sound” and noted its “monumental power.” These large works will be complemented by a few Scarlatti sonatas and Schönberg’s Six Little Piano Pieces, Op. 19.
