In December, we have the honor to present the West Coast premiere of The Little Match Girl Passion, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Music, written by our longtime friend David Lang. It's an extraordinary work that explores the musical and allegorical traditions of Bach's famous passions via the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale.
The program also includes selected works by Benjamin Britten, Dave Brubeck, Cary Boyce, Sanford Dole, Ilya Demutsky, Michael Roberts, Veljo Tormis and Christmas spirituals. This is definitely a holiday concert with a twist!
