San Francisco Choral Artists Forecast: Sunny With Song!

SF Choral Artists present Forecast: Sunny with Song! Classics paired with moving new works. Bask in masterpieces of the unaccompanied repertoire as the Choral Artists, led by Magen Solomon, sing some of our most beloved works: Debussy and Hindemith Chansons; Poulenc Motets; Britten Flower Songs; Vaughan Williams Shakespeare Songs; challenging pieces by Carter, Ives, Webern; and Puerling’s charming "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square." Toast 5 World Premieres we predict will become classics: Chuckle at settings of the poetry of e.e. cummings by Composer-In-Residence Brian Holmes--from twinkle-toes and pirates to an old cowboy. Be moved by the tale of a would-be migrant adrift at sea, by New Zealand Composer-Not-In-Residence Christopher Marshall.

"...amongst the foremost unaccompanied singing groups... on this or any other coast." -- R. Dane Danubian, artssf.com.

"The Choral Artists sang with fervor, discernment, and tonal beauty." -- Anna Carol Dudley, San Francisco Classical Voice

“Forecast: Sunny, With a Chance of Song.” With this meteorological conceit, the program for San Francisco Choral Artists’ concerts around the Bay Area in March features a full spectrum of great modern choral compositions from the beginning through the middle of the 20th century, with two commissioned pieces dating from last year — one composed by SFCA composer in residence Brian Holmes, the other by “composer not in residence” Christopher Marshall.
