The San Francisco Conservatory of Music faculty, collegiate students, and friends celebrate its historic and future relationship with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in a special concert featuring works by Shanghai composers as part of the San Francisco Bay Area-wide Shanghai Celebration. Performers will include world-renowned mezzo-soprano Zheng Cao and The Bridge Chamber Virtuosi, a new string trio featuring Conservatory violin faculty member Wei He and San Francisco Symphony members Yun Jie Liu and Amos Yang.

Violinist Yin Bin Qian wanted to study abroad after graduating from the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the oldest Western-oriented music school in China. He applied to graduate school at Yale, the Eastman School of Music, USC, and other American colleges. But after hearing violinist Wei He perform at the Shanghai Conservatory last year, Qian set his sights on the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where He is on the faculty. More »
