A Piper’s Noel
"-EARLY-MUSIC ENSEMBLE BRINGS CROWD, EARS RINGING TO ITS FEET- Ciaramella charmed listeners with a spirited concert of ravishing Renaissance music..." Cleveland Plain Dealer
In this program, Ciaramella traces the ties between music of intense joy and the high sounds of shawms, brass, organ and voice, from the Annunciation to feasts bidding winter farewell and Epiphany. To this day, Italian bagpipers (zampognari)
descend from the hills in the weeks before Christmas, accompanied by the ciaramella, an Italian folk shawm: share the joy! Music by de Morales, Binchois, Desprez, Brumel and others.
