Last year András Schiff completed an epic, 2-year chronological journey through the 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas, co-presented by San Francisco Performances and the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall. As one reviewer said, “Schiff so completely inhabited the spirit of the music that…I had the sense Beethoven himself was improvising on his own melodic and rhythmic ideas.” This year, András Schiff moves deeper into the 19th century in the more intimate Herbst Theatre ,with a program celebrating Romantic giants Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann.
