This performance is something of a homecoming for Elza van den Heever. In addition to a knockout Salon Series appearance with SFP in 2008, she’s also a San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Merola Opera alum, and a former SF Opera Adler Fellow. Her mainstage career had its glorious beginning in San Francisco Opera’s Don Giovanni with the portrayal of Donna Anna, which has since become a signature role. Critics have raved: “this is a voice one cannot soon forget.” Her program, ranging from Handel arias to Afrikaans songs from her native country, is one of unusual loveliness.
