The San Francisco Symphony Presents American Orchestras
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra makes its first appearance in San Francisco since 1987, led by Music Director Riccardo Muti. Mason Bates, who is a Mead Composer in-Residence with the CSO as well as the Project San Francisco Composer with the SFS, performs in his new work commissioned by CSO, Alternative Energy. Also on the engaging program is the only symphony Cesar Franck composed, the unique and highly original Symphony in D minor, and Honegger’s ode to the steam locomotive.
