SFSU School of Music and Dance Pamela Z

This solo performance of works for voice, electronics and video celebrates the opening of the “SmARTspace” exhibition, on display in SF State’s Fine Arts Gallery from Feb. 21 to March 15.

Pamela Z is a composer/performer and media artist who makes solo works combining a wide range of vocal techniques with electronic processing, samples, gesture-activated MIDI controllers and video. She has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan. Her work has been presented at venues and exhibitions including Bang on a Can, the Japan Interlink Festival, Other Minds, Venice Biennale and Dakar Biennale. She has created installation works and has composed scores for dance, film and new-music chamber ensembles. Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Creative Capital Fund, CalArts Alpert Award, The MAP Fund, the ASCAP Award, an Ars Electronica honorable mention and NEA/JUSFC Fellowship.
