Veritable “rock stars” of taiko (Japanese for “drum”), the 20 virtuoso members of TAO make breathtaking use of their disciplined, athletic conditioning. Imagine a 12-mile run followed by four hours of non-stop drumming: all in a day’s work for TAO at its rural compound on the island of Kyushu. But the secret ingredient that has earned TAO its reputation as one of the world’s top taiko companies is its dynamic, modern take on traditional Japanese drumming, which includes anime, martial arts, newly composed music, and blazing choreography.
Generously supported by Dr. Morton Grosser and Adam Grosser and Sher Amos Grosser.
