The Takács Quartet has long been a famed group in the world of chamber music. Locally, they’ve become a special favorite since Geraldine Walther, the beloved former principal violist of the San Francisco Symphony, became a member of the Takács. For one of their upcoming concerts, Peter Wyrick, associate principal cellist of the Symphony, joins them in one of the great monuments of the chamber repertory, Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major, D. 956. And the rest of the program is nothing to sneeze at: Haydn’s Op. 77, No. 2 and the Bartók Third Quartet.
