For Your Provocation

During this seasonal hiatus in performances that want reviewing, we slim down to two feature articles, the first, "Orchestra Auditions," on a subject that should interest all music lovers, about those very special artists on the stage and what they must do to get there. The second feature is a review of a book of the correspondence of the late Roger Sessions, a composer who was a giant, and made a tremendous impact here in the Bay Area, during his tenure as a professor of music at the University of California, Berkeley, 1944-1953.
