Deanna Said

I am a freelance violist and experienced teacher in the bay area. I offer lessons at my home in Alameda and in Mountain View. I am principal violist for the Susanville Symphony and I often play with many groups in the bay area- including Berkeley, Monterey, Sacramento, Modesto and Merced Symphonies.
I received my BM from the San Francisco Conservatory, working with Jodi Levitz and my MM from the University of Nevada-Reno as a graduate teaching assistant to Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio.
In addition to this excellent training, I've also studied the Alexander technique. It's a method of building body awareness and avoiding pain or injury. I use this method to teach my students to play in the most natural way possible. My students study the rich Suzuki literature of graded solo pieces, as well as standard etudes and scales.
An enthusiastic teacher, I maintain a thriving private violin and viola studio and, also, began a strings program at the German International School in Berkeley.
