A favorite wind quintet of mine, the Quinteto Latino, which is dedicated to bringing you the music of Mexico and South America, is playing two of the great standards of the repertory this week, Paul Taffanel's Quintette in G Minor and Heitor Villa-Lobos' Quinteto en forma de choros.
If you've never heard these pieces played live, hie thee to Old First Church on Friday. Tickets are only $14 to $17, and the music is strong and invigorating.
