Jenny Lin, piano

This time of year, there are more great pianists trekking through the Bay Area than are easy to keep straight in your mind. One recital that should be on your radar this weekend is Jenny Lin's appearance at San Francisco Performances.

The 37-year-old Lin, born in Taiwan, raised in Austria, and currently residing in New York, is an exceptionally fluent and poetic performer. In San Francisco, she performs selections from her latest (2009) CD for Hänssler Classics, pairing Shostakovich's Preludes and Fugues Op.87, and Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier.
