Opera Parallèle's production of Osvaldo Golijov's 2003 Ainadamar ("Fountain of Tears") is coming to YerbaBuena Center Feb. 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. This is the San Francisco premiere of the production.
Here's a video of Monday's rehearsal with singers Lisa Chavez, Marnie Breckenridge, and Maya Kherani. They will be joined by La Tania and her troupe of Flamenco dancers.
Nicole Paiement is conductor and music director, Brian Staufenbiel is responsible for production and stage direction. Staufenbiel, with the help of Scenic and Lighting Designer Matthew Antaky and Video Artist Austin Forbord, brings the story — told in flashback through the eyes of actress Margarita Xirgu, Federico Garcia Lorca’s muse and most fervent advocate — to life with creative use of new video mapping technology.
