June 29, Saturday, 11:30 a.m., Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse: Fiddlekids Annual Concert. It’s definitelynot Suzuki instruction, but this concert of kids who have been through the one-week fiddling camp has a bit more zing even for those who are not related to the performers. Campers have learned bluegrass and a variety of traditional techniques and repertories. The concert is free, so there’s no heavy commitment required.

June 29, Saturday, 6 p.m., Courthouse Square, Redwood City: Redwood Symphony on the Square. There’s an ambitious and exciting summer concert outdoor concert series that happens every year in the heart of Redwood City and it’s always kicked off with a pops concert by the city’s resident orchestra. On the program are a lot of tried-and-true popular classics, a preview of the orchestra’s tribute to The Beatles’ White Album, not to mention a Sousa march. So consider this your early-bird Fourth of July outing.
