Each year InterMusic offers a gift to San Francisco by way of their free, daylong SF Music Day, which showcases outstanding local musicians of all stripes in four venues in the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. We recently previewed this year’s 10th-annivsary event, but text and promo shots can’t begin to capture the excitement and variety of what goes on during this special event. Over the course of the day listeners are treated to Baroque and classical works from the canon, contemporary compositions, innovative jazz, improvised and experimental music, and electro-acoustic music.
We charged Katharine Dimitruk with documenting as many of the performances as possible, and she delivered this delightful tour of some of the activities in each of the festival venues, with performers noted in the captions.
