The Montreal-based Ensemble ARTefact is visiting San Francisco for an SFCV-sponsored event at Salle Pianos (details in next week's Music News), as well as a Morrison Series concert and masterclass. The group presents a broad and rich repertoire for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano from all periods, and also plays in such combinations as piano trio, clarinet trio, duos, and solos. ARTefact will have a busy schedule in SFSU's May Treat Morrison Chamber Music Center; all events are free and open to the public:

  • ARTefact Morrison Series concert: 3 p.m. Nov. 4, McKenna Theatre
  • Masterclass by the ensemble, noon Nov. 5, Knuth Hall

Program for the concert includes Hindemith’s Quartet for Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano; Takemitsu’s Quatrain II; and Brahms’ Trio in A Minor for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, Op. 114.
