If you heard Handel’s Messiah at Grace Cathedral last December, you may be interested in the arrival of the New College Choir, Oxford, which will sing J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion at Grace on Good Friday. Not only promising to be a tremendous performance of this masterwork, it is also the timeliest performance you could have: the day that the work was composed to commemorate. And even if you’re not religious, the New College Choir doesn’t show up everyday in the Bay Area. This concert is followed by a a commemoration of Britten’s centennial the following week at Stanford Live.
