The Ives Quartet is the second act in the Crowden Music Center’s marvelous [email protected] concert series. This strong group will play a wide-ranging concert they’re billing as a journey into musical biography. The music begins with Haydn’s underplayed but masterful Op. 50/5, which is followed by Henry Cowell’s United Quartet and Bedrich Smetana’s From My Life (that composer’s best work, if you ask me.) Tickets are $18 at the door, free for people under age 18. What a bargain for classic music lovers. Crowden, in North Berkeley is easily accessible by BART and by car.
