Thanks to the 200th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi’s birth, his Requiem, one of the most popular choral works of all time, is sure to figure in the Bay Area concert scene a number of times this year. The Symphony Silicon Valley Orchestra and its Chorale (well maintained by its director Elena Sharkova, who likes to sink her teeth into big works like this one) get us started with a one-night performance in the California Theatre.
