Sacred & Profane Chamber Chorus holding auditions (tenor, alto, bass)
Sacred & Profane has openings for voices in all sections (SATB). If you are an experienced singer with a healthy voice & a great attitude, please audition with us for this extraordinary 2015-2016 season.
Our season began with an enthusiastically received holiday concert featuring the holiday music of Eastern Europe. Our February 2015 concert showcased love songs (old and new!) including Palestrina’s sensual Song of Songs to Lauridsen’s exciting Madrigali: Fire Songs--and more. This past May, we sang with a full wind ensemble: the program included Bruckner's Mass in E Minor and Stravinsky's Mass as well as a piece by the contemporary Swedish composer Karin Rehnqvist.
Concerts will take place in Berkeley and San Francisco (we hold three in the December concert series and two in the February and May series). Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings 7:30-10 PM in downtown Oakland, with one additional Wednesday and one Saturday rehearsal per set. Dress rehearsals occasionally fall mid-week as well.
