SAN JOSE, Calif.– The Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale, directed by Elena Sharkova, has become known in the Bay Area and beyond for its eclectic mix of concert programs: from choral-orchestral masterworks to contemporary, jazz, and folk- inspired compositions. As the chorus-in-residence for Symphony Silicon Valley, Chorale performs regularly with world-renowned vocal and instrumental soloists and conductors on stage of the historic California Theater in San Jose.

The 2014-2015 season is sure to thrill audiences and engage. It will feature the annual concert Carols at the California in December, a fun evening of holiday favorites and sing-a-longs. We ring in 2015 with a full and fulfilling set as we join the musicians of Symphony Silicon Valley in a "Bells" theme concert in May. Local composer Pablo Furman’s premiere Overture for Orchestra and Choir introduces the ‘bell’ motif with the choral voices. Debussy’s Nocturnes treats women’s voices as instruments, blending them with the orchestra to evoke the shifting sea. Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Bells, which evokes changing bell-tones using the melody of words, inspired Rachmaninoff’s brilliant adaptation - a choral symphony that was his favorite of all his works. The season closes with yet another concert with Symphony Silicon Valley as we sing Vaughan Williams elegiac Serenade to Music. Come join us and sing glorious music with our professional symphony! Auditions for SSV Chorale will be held on September 2 by appointment. Weekly rehearsals are held on Tuesdays, 7-9:45 pm, at Campbell Seventh Day Adventist Church, 600 W Campbell Ave., Campbell. Our season begins on September 9, 2014.

Led by artistic director Elena Sharkova, Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale is composed of skilled volunteer singers dedicated to professional-quality performances of major choral works.
