San Francisco's Newest Choir Seeks Young Women in 2nd-7th Grades!

The Young Women’s Choral Projects of San Francisco transforms the lives of young women through exceptional artistry in choral performance, and brings the expressive power of their music to the community, the nation, and the world. Through YWCP, young women ages 7-18 from richly diverse socio-ethnic backgrounds find their voices as singers, artists and women in a nurturing environment that empowers them to achieve artistic and personal excellence. YWCP offers three levels of choral experience, each with its own curriculum and musical objectives: Prelude Chorus (beginning level), Allegro Chorus (intermediate level) and Young Women's Chorus (advanced level). All YWCP ensembles teach young women the joy of performing, and instill in each singer important life benefits such as confidence, focus, self-discipline, problem solving, responsibility and compassion.

Prelude Chorus is YWCP’s beginning-level chorus, welcoming girls with no previous musical training. Through a Kodály-based music education curriculum, choristers will learn basic vocal techniques, sight-reading, and performance skills, and sing unison and two-part repertoire in many languages. Prelude Chorus is led by Kodály specialist Samantha Maas-Baldwin, and presents 2-4 public performances annually.
