Georgeanne Banker

My teaching methods are tailored to each individual student, and are focused on building strong fundamentals and encouraging independent musical thought. Throughout the school year, I work with my students on youth orchestra and all-state audition preparation, school band/orchestra repertoire, youth orchestra audition and concert repertoire, and reed making. My students have passed successful auditions for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, El Camino Youth Orchestra, and California All-State Orchestra and Band. I am happy to work with everyone from the complete beginner to those picking up the instrument again after taking a 30 year break. I am an active freelancer on modern and historical bassoons, and can be heard on several pop and film recordings, including the soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated short The Dam Keeper. I am also a co-founder and principal bassoonist of the conductorless chamber orchestra One Found Sound. For lesson inquiries, please email me at [email protected].
