MARK NARINS

Tenor MARK NARINS, can currently be heard as Luigi in Verismo opera's Il Tabarro (Puccini). Also with Verismo Opera he has sung Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) Turridu (Cavalleria Rusticana), Don Jose (Carmen), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Riccardo (Ballo in Maschera), as Cassio (Otello) and Froh (Das Rheingold). Mr. Narins has also sung Canio with Robert Ashens, Prince Golitsin (Khovanschina) with Kent Nagano and Azael in Debussy's L'Enfant Prodigue with Geoffrey Gallegos. Mr. Narins is also a very active composer. He recently completed his first symphony and conducted the premiere of his tone poem Sacred Space for orchestra and viola solo in June of 2014. Most recently the Lesbian and Gay Freedom Band performed his "The Golden Find-Drake at Pt. Reyes" , a musical dramatization of Sir Francis Drakes' landing at Pt Reyes. He also composed the opera, Theresa Kren about the resurrection from the dead of a little girl by her mother in 19th century Austria. Mr. Narins is the former conductor of the Arizona Festival Orchestra, ORCHESTAI-Arizona's Touring Orchestra, the Oakland Opera Company and Oakland and founder of City Opera Theater which produced Janacek's Jenufa. He is currently the associate conductor of the Kensington Symphony where he also plays co-principal trombone. Mr. Narins is organizing and conducting the inaugural season of The Bay Area Summer Orchestra Project to be held in Alameda, Ca. As a trombonist he has played both tenor and bass trombone for Prometheus Symphony. Mr. Narins was educated at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Arizona. He has studied voice with Frederick Winthrop (Verismo Opera), David Gordon (international opera tenor) and Richard Riley. Mr. Narins comes from a musical family. His mother, Margaret Gaudiani Narins, studied piano from the Italian pedagogue Madame Carreras and Olga Samaroff Stokowski at the Julliard School. She went on to become the personal assistant of Walter Toscanini at the NBC Symphony Orchestra. His composer's webpage is www.marknarins.com
