Bach Cantata Workshop: Cantata 62, "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland"

Presented by California Bach Society

California Bach Society invites all Bach lovers for our second interactive online Cantata Workshop. This time we look at J.S. Bach's glorious composition for Advent: Cantata 62, “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland.” Saturday, December 5, at 11 am Pacific Time, on Zoom. Duration: 75 minutes. Join artistic director Paul Flight, internationally renowned soloists Mark Bonney (live from Glasgow, Scotland) and Sumner Thompson (live from Boston), CalBach singers, and guests from all over the world to sing, listen, and learn together. We’ll practice sections of the choral movements, sing along to an outstanding recording, learn about the cantata from Paul Flight, and enjoy all solos sung live from soloists' homes during the event. We will also sing through a beautiful double choir setting of the chorale “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland” by Samuel Scheidt. All participants will be muted during the event. Whether you’re a lifelong singer, a beginner, or a listener, you will experience a full Bach cantata in a deeply satisfying new way.
