Charles Xavier: XBOOM

Presented by Center for New Music

xboom.jpg

“XBOOM” is a new creative music project architected for improvisation, quintessential in both jazz and experimental electronica. The sound cycles can be repetitive or improvised with live looping and digital effects to alter the original compositions by each jazz player, one example of an influence is Brad Mehldau’s electronic album Taming of the Dragon. Each sound cycle is deliberately scored to allow for the live performances of acoustic jazz instruments. Each player extends the creative breadth of the tradition of jazz improvisation through the use of modern apps that enable them to play against their own instrument’s solo lines.
