Church of the Incarnation Music for Trumpet and Organ

The Church of the Incarnation is pleased to host a concert of trumpet and organ music presented by Dr. David Rothe, organ, and Ayako Nakamura, trumpet and flugelhorn. Joining them will be Carol Menke, soprano, and Laura McLellan, cello.

Dr. Rothe and Ms. Nakamura together will perform works of Telemann, Arutunian, Hovhaness and Martini. Dr. Rothe will perform a Prelude and Fugue by Bach and a chorale prelude by Buxtehude. Ms. Menke and Ms. McLellan will share the stage to perform Händel’s well-known “Let The Bright Seraphim.”

Dr. David Rothe taught music at CSU, Chico from 1968 to 2008. He currently teaches privately and through the University OLLI program. He is the organist for two Chico churches.

Ms. Nakamura is lead trumpet for the North State Symphony and also teaches trumpet and other music courses at CSU, Chico.

Ms. Menke is artistic director of the a cappella choir Cantiamo Sonoma and the Santa Rosa Children’s Choral Academy. She is a member of the music faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College, Director of Music at the Church of the Incarnation and a solo artist.

Ms. McLellan has played the cello in the symphony orchestras of Cincinnati, Montreal, Rochester, and New Orleans, and continues as a free lancer, an orchestral and chamber musician, and a private teacher.
