Presented by Espressivo - A Small, Intense Orchestra

Espressivo—a small, intense orchestra inaugurates its fifth season on Sunday, September 15, 4 pm, at Peace United Church in Santa Cruz with a concert celebrating the symphonic genre. It traces the development of the symphony from the Baroque, exemplified by George Frideric Handel’s concerti grossi, to the Classical, exemplified by Joseph Haydn’s “Evening”, to the Neoclassical, exemplified by Benjamin Britten’s “Simple Symphony.” The orchestra will also play “Music for Small Orchestra by the 1920s American Modernist Ruth Crawford.
Espressivo consists of players culled from among the best professionals on the Central Coast and the Bay Area. Its Artistic Director and Conductor is Michel Singher.
