MasterGuild Chamber Music Concert

This concert will feature the outstanding young cellist Mariko Hiraga Wyrick, first heard in the MasterGuild series last March, and the daughter of violinist Amy Hiraga and cellist Peter Wyrick. Mariko will be the soloist in a performance of Ernest Bloch’s seminal work for cello and orchestra, “Schelomo,” in a transcription for our group by artistic director Roy Bogas. If you have never heard "Schelomo," you will be blown away by its intensity and incredibly magical qualities. Also on the program is the flower of Franz Schubert’s chamber works, the quintet for two cellos, two violins and viola, with Peter and Mariko, father and daughter, playing the cello parts. Mother Amy is also included, along with family friend violist Nancy Ellis.
