Due to Covid exposure to one of our member’s family it has become untenable to hold our concert this Friday Oct. 8th. David Ryther Three Préludes; Ondine; Des pas sur la neige; and La danse de Puck Claude Debussy String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10 Debussy’s Préludes for piano are so coloristic that they suggest many sounds and images that transcend the instrument. Woodwinds, voice, strings, nature, and mythical beings--these short pieces allow the mind to conjure images and to dream. Join Circadian as we transform them into string quartet music and explore their endless suggestive possibilities. You will hear Ondine, Des pas sur la neige, and La danse de Puck. Debussy’s revolutionary string quartet will follow. This work brought the string quartet into the sensibilities of the twentieth century and uses color to plumb the subtle depths of human thought and emotion. Bay Area based Circadian String Quartet was founded in 2013 to perform classical and contemporary repertoire with folkloric or cultural significance. CSQ is proud to have given world and U.S. premieres of exciting new pieces of chamber music, a result of working closely with several living composers, including Sahba Aminikia, Ben Carson, Toronto-based Noam Lemish, and British composer Ian Venables. Members of CSQ perform throughout the Bay Area and also serve as resident teaching artists for the Zephyr Point Chamber Music Workshop. Dedicated to music education, the quartet works intensely with musician of all ages in developing their musical abilities in chamber music.
