Classical Guitar Virtuoso Benjamin Verdery
With more than 15 albums to his credit and a reputation as a prolific arranger and composer, guitarist Benjamin Verdery has drawn critical acclaim and entertained fans around the world with his eclectic style, which runs from classical to pop, rock, Latin and beyond. Verdery currently serves as artistic director of the Art of the Guitar at the 92nd Street Y, not to mention chair of the guitar department at the Yale University School of Music, and he tours all over the globe, with a recent residency in Chile.
Ben's concert will feature works by J.S. Bach, Villa Lobos, and a special appearance by the UC Santa Cruz guitar ensemble performing Ben's epic work, Ellis Island for 12 guitars.
Ben has been described by the NY Times as “an iconoclastic player” and “an American original, an American master” by Sound Board Magazine, Benjamin Verdery has been hailed for his innovative and eclectic musical career.
