SFEMS Recorder Orchestra & Faculty Consort

San Francisco Early Music Society

San Francisco Early Music Society SFEMS Recorder Orchestra & Faculty Consort

Every summer, the San Francisco Early Music Society offers six weeks of workshops on historical music from the Middle Ages through the Classical era and beyond. Students of all ages and at all levels have the chance to study historical performance with the faculty of superb musicians SFEMS brings from around the world. Each week, workshop faculty give a public concert, featuring first-rate performances of both familiar and unusual repertory. The concerts are enthusiastic and inspired, always filled with the joy of music-making in a less formal setting, and often bringing surprises as musicians spontaneously interact and play off each other’s energy.

The Recorder Workshop Week I, co-directed by Rotem Gilbert and Hanneke van Proosdij, caps off its week with the Recorder Orchestra and Faculty in Consort. Come and be surprised by beautiful repertoire on the theme Heaven & Earth.
