Led by acclaimed fiddler Alasdair Fraser, over 100 musicians, dancers, and singers form a multi-generational multi-cultural string band that creates concert magic unlike anything you've experienced before.

If you like the stirring soundtracks of Outlander, Braveheart or the Celtic dance tunes from Titanic, tickets are available now at http://www.sfscottishfiddlers.org.

The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers formed 37 years ago when small group of Bay Area friends gathered to play traditional and modern Scottish tunes together. As they attracted others into their circle, they decided to share their music in public concerts. These have grown into an annual event that brings their joyful enthusiasm to three different venues in the greater Bay Area in one weekend.

As these friends got a bit older and had kids who learned to play, they formed an inter-generational performing group that makes no distinctions by age, or status as a professional or amateur. As their circles grew ever wider, they naturally incorporated the music of their American roots and those of international influences as well. Several of the kids who grew up in the group have been inspired to become professional musicians.

Current members are a mix of professionals and amateurs of all ages. Their one musical imperative, regardless of the tune or tradition, is never to be boring. They accomplish this without auditions or competition. They are an inclusive community that focuses on the joy of making music together.
The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers are available to perform in schools, retirement communities, and other venues from farmers markets and fairs, to Celtic and contra-dances, and highland games. They were featured in an award-winning documentary, The Groove Is Not Trivial, (http://www.thegroovemovie.com) about Alasdair Fraser, their founder and music director. The film premiered at the 2016 Mill Valley Film Festival and won the Audience Choice Award. The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers is a division of The Scottish Fiddlers of California, a registered 501(c)3 organization, #95-4063752
