Carrying on the tradition of Booker T & The MGs and the Meters, this Bay Area quartet plays an ultra-funky brand of instrumental, organ-heavy R&B drawing on the soul of the 60s. Made up of guitarist Joe Baer Magnant, organist Gary Pitman, bassist Chris Lujan, and drummer Michael Reed, M-Tet brings a fresh approach to 60s sounds, performing original and re-imagined classics infusing old-school funk with powerful hip-hop beats and a modern attitude.

With a razor-sharp sound honed through tireless touring, the group has released two full-length albums and a pair of singles for their own Pittsburg-based Lugnut Brand Records as well as Detroit's Funk Night label, home to releases by the Soul Surfers and the Dap-Kings. Don't miss this evening of non-stop dance-inspiring grooves with the band KPFA "History of Funk" DJ and author Rickey Vincent says will "blow your mind with some old school funk!"
