The choir St. Bede's Episcopal Church and officiant Colby Roberts will present a service of Evensong featuring the Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis (Selwyn service) of contemporary Canadian composer Stephanie Martin, with additional music by American composer Richard Webster, who is the music director at Trinity Episcopal Church in Copley Square, Boston, and psalm settings by Gerre Hancock and Kathryn Rose. Organ voluntaries for the service are by Rachel Laurin and Ruth Watson Hernderson. Immediately following the service, distinguished Bay Area organist Jonathan Dimmock will present "Lenten Mercies", a recital of works by Sweelinck, Matter, Brahms, Barber and Bach, based on melodies by Hegenwalt, Eccard, Crüger, and Luther. Free will donations will be accepted to benefit Episcopal Relief and Development, and a reception will follow the recital.
St. Bede's is exceedingly grateful to Mr. Dimmock for his graciousness in stepping in as this week's recitalist, filling in for Ms. Paulette Grundeen, who was originally scheduled to perform this Sunday and who was forced to cancel due to injuries from a recent fall.
