Verdi's "I due Foscari"

West Bay Opera

West Bay Opera Verdi's

The octogenarian Doge of Venice is forced to choose between his crown and the life of his only son. In the end he loses both. Lord Byron's remarkably current drama (The Two Foscari) about the perils of power is brought to new heights by a magnificent Verdi score. Sung by the truly virtuosic cast that this early masterpiece demands. Presented fully staged, with orchestra and chorus, set in Venice in the 1300's. Opulent costumes by Callie Floor. Set and projections designed by Peter Crompton. Directed by Richard Harrell. José Luis Moscovich, conductor. Q&A with the cast and directors seated onstage at the end of the performance on Sunday, February 17. See separate listing for FREE preview with piano on Feb. 7.
